Odometer Stopped Workng?

Hello Everyone: i have a 1991 Plymouth acclaim 4 cyl and i pressed the reset trip button to all zeros so i could see how many miles i traveled before leaving on a trip, now the the odometer does not move but the speedometer is ok. i had this fixed around a year or two ago should this go that fast? also is it possible to fix it myself? if not how much to fix it in your opinion? Thanks

At that age vehicle I'm assuming it's old-school mechanical odo? DIY not out of the question, but it would involve removing the cluster to get at the guts and looking for something like a broken/stripped gear.

Here's a thread on a MOPAR site talking about an '89 New Yorker, but yours may be similar:

On a car that old, I'm not sure I'd bother.

Thanks for the video. do you know of a video that shows exactly how to take the cluster off the 1991 Plymouth acclaim? the video does not seem to show that? Thanks

Press the reset button as far as it will go and then slide your finger off so the button "snaps" back to the regular position.

Absolutely no guarantee this will work for you but if the problem is mechanical the sudden shock might help.
