Mystery Part

Can anyone tell me what this is? I found it in my garage and I'm not sure what it came off of.

Welcome to the forums!

It doesn't look automotive to me but might be something off a small engine. Hopefully one of the others will know for sure.

Looks like an adjustment screw from a carburetor. But I don't see the needle valve part.

You should have placed a ruler next to it.
Sure does look like a tensioner screw to adjust tension on something.

I'll post a pic in a bit with the ruler. I have a 1985 Harley Davidson Lowrider, a 2005 Ford Freestar, a 1995 GMC G2500 Vandura, a 1976 Cadillac Sedan DeVille, and a 2003 GMC Sonoma, all of which have spent time recently in the garage.

I'll bet the Harley doesn't start. This appears to be a mixing adjustment screw, but as the others have alluded, it is missing a needle.

Possible oil pressure control spring, With chrome I would guess your bike. Look around there might be a small ball bearing also.

How about it being a "detent" (ball or pin missing) maybe on the Harley gear shift, or center prop?
