one brake light stopped lighting

2005 Kia Optima the right brake light stopped lighting. Looked at the bulb and the connection. Bulb looks fine and connection looks clean no corrosion. Switched bulb with the other side with known working bulb but right side still won't light. I would think a fuse or a brake light switch would control both sides so doesn't seem logical that the problem could be fuse or switch. Any suggestions how to proceed with troubleshooting (or what is likely the problem/solution) appreciated.

Does each light harness have a fusible link?

Could be a ground issue, try running a separate ground wire.

Taillight works ... ground is good.
changed bulb-still won't light.... brake light wire is broken to that socket.

Yeah the tailights both work and the turn signals both work and no there's no apparent fusible link to each brake light. There is a left tail fuse and a right tail fuse but I'm pretty sure those circuits seem obviously separate from the brake lamps. For what it's worth here's a few photos of the wiring diagram from the KIA manual I have: Seems to show a GRN feed wire running to the left brake lamp and then another GRN one running from the left brake lamp to the right brake lamp. So broken brake light wire somewhere on that GRN wire probably? Any further comments in regard to how I can test/trace the problem appreciated.

try to find where wire splits to tail lights.
Did you mean to say find where that wire splits to the brake ("stop") lights?

Yes trace wire back to where it splits to go to each light. If it splits at light check connection there.
