79 Olds Cutlass Supreme Brougham replace drivers interior door handle.

I need to remove the bottom door panel to fix this. I'm ok with all steps except the remote mirror adjuster trim chrome ring. I can't get this trim off. I've watched U-tube video's but none of them include this trim. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks.

Can you post a pic of what you want to remove. Most of them I remember by seeing.

Ok..... so you have that chrome piece for the mirror adjustment and slightly back back from that you have a chrome power door lock bezel.

Both of those are removed under the panel. After you get all the screws out..... lift that panel up and slide it off the door handle. There is a plug that disconnects on the bottom of the door lock switch and a setscrew that holds the mirror adjuster in the bezel.

That may be a small Allen key setscrew. The red dot is where the setscrew would be land after being tightened in the bezel.

Which handle are you replacing.... the strap or the door release handle ?

You may be able to leave the mirror connected and just maneuver the panel out of the way.
When you lift the panel off the door.... it will be easier to have the window down as the panel hangs on to the edge where the window is. There is a gasket on the panel that will be somewhat hard from its age. Treat it gently.

Door Handle

I'm replacing the door release handle. Based on your advice I'll leave the mirror connected. Is having the window down meant for the upper or lower panel.

Thanks

Sorry.... got my cars confused. The mirror adjuster and the door lock switch are in the lower panel right near the door release handle... correct ?
