Chevy Venture 2000 lights flicker

A mechanic checked the alternator and said it was working fine. Dash light, head lights all flicker constantly. Also, the fan speed coincides with the flicker.

Any ideas?

Check the main connection from the battery to the fuse box at the fender well. Also check the ground connection not only to the engine, but to the body. Remove them, clean them and the surface to which it is attached with a wire brush and reattach them.

One of your electric relays is bad or going bad or has bad contact.
BTW, does it flicker with engine running only or with engine turned off too?

no, it only flickers when the engine is running. when engine is turned off, lights appear to work fine. Mechanic believes it's the alternator. Says if it's the ground, the battery would be going dead. The flickering has been going on for several months now, at least 5 months.

He said his alternator checker is not a good one (sophisticated??).

Actually the lights flickering on a GM truck is pretty common. Usually the flicker is very noticeable at idle but as the engine speed increases it's no longer noticeable as the alternator output increases.

In less your mechanic is a electrical specialist I would not trust him with this problem. Find a auto electrical shop. May not be a cheap problem.
