83 Chev G20 vacuum/cooling part

It is a 4-port vacuum device that screws into the top of the thermostat housing right next to the radiator hose. I've looked at Rockauto under everything I can think of, no joy.

Anyone know what it's called? Two of the ports are broke off so he has a slight vacuum leak.

Thanks

It's a heat activated vacuum valve. May only be available from dealer.

Possibly one of these.....

Sorry Pete, we ( WE?? ) were looking at the wrong part. What he was talking about was the black rubber thing to the right. To me that looks like some sort or block where you can connect more vacuum lines?

About the coolant temperature vacuum switch, that is supposed to have 3 hoses for the spark advance. He has no hoses to either part which maybe explains why it backfires when he lets off the gas. He did find one hose with a golf tee in it.

After spending hours yesterday looking for the wrong part, Rockauto doesn't even show it, he will have to figure where all the hoses go.

This weekend they drove from the cities to the east side of cheeseland and said it was running rich and backfiring when he lets off the gas. I told him one of these times he'll start a fire or blow the muffler off.

Thanks for your time.

The rubber part to the right of the valve looks like a rubber plug that will connect to the vacuum switch. That rubber plug will only be available from a dealer with all the vacuum lines pre-attached to it.

Should be a vacuum hose routing decal under hood, It will tell you where hoses go.

Ohhh, that makes sense now. He did say it looked like the lines were "broke off." I thought they just push in.

I'll have him look for the map, pretty old vehicle though. I tried to find one on the internet yesterday but just got confused and was ready to beat the dog so I had to give up.

Thanks guys.
