Window tint removal
Just wondering if anyone has any experience in removing window tint film? Recently bought a nice used Toy Tacoma that I love, but the window tint (sides and rear) are darker than I like by quite a bit. Might even be darker than legally allowed, although that is rarely enforced. Considering taking it off (just the fronts), appears to be professionally installed, i.e. no flaws or bubbles.

If you find out - let us know! My son has an ex police car with real dark tint. It is not legal in tenn and they're more lenient than most. He's been rolling the front windows down whenever he gets close to law enforcement

Use ammonia. Ammonia dissolves window film. If it's real old and "there" get a steamer and steam if off. Be prepaired to catch a lot of water from condensate. This is what my tint guy does.
You will end up with glue residue on the glass. Denaturated alcohol and lots of rags.
We cleaned ALL windows on sun's Civic this way last year.

You could try warming it up with a hair dryer on an edge.......not a paint stripper, they are too hot and could shatter the glass..

I tried slipping a razor blade under a corner and the edge came up pretty clean and easy, so could be I won't have too much trouble. 
Mark, does the cop car have film ON the windows or are the windows themselves dark-tinted glass?

I never looked that close but my son said it was a film. Definitely a well done job with no bubbles/wrinkles.
He's had the car a couple of years, not sure why he hasn't addressed the dark tint - maybe he likes it .... or is just lazy
