bolt torque chart for cars?

Where do I find a bolt torque chart for cars? For example, when replacing brakes, the caliper bracket bolts have to be torqued to a specific ft x lb number. How do I find out what torque to apply to different bolts? Would appreciate any suggestion. Thanks h.

Either pick up a make/model specific repair manual from a library or bookstore or you can look it up on a site that has the info on line. AutoZone's site has repair manuals for most cars and it will include things like torque values where needed.

Each vehicle manufacturer publishes a Factory Service Manual (AKA: Service Information or Shop manual). These are also on DVD in pdf format. The books will be typically 4 volumes and 2000 pages total.

All for one model year vehicle! Instructions for how to service ANYTHING on the specific year/model vehicle is in there.

You can get the same information from alldatadiy.com.

For older vehicles, you can purchase the set of books used on ebay, amazon, and elsewhere. Like this...
