Timing belt- motor mount
1990 Plymouth voyager. 3.0 v6. Van is disassembled . Working to replace head gasket. Need to loosen timing belt and cannot remove mounting plate off motor from motor mount. Do I have to remove the compressor to remove the bracket connected to the motor mount? Stuck!

Most have a spring loaded idler pulley with a hex head bolt that you use a socket and ratchet to take the pressure off the belt.
Often times there's even a diagram on the back side of the hood showing how the belt is run.
