Chevy Volt fuel door sticks

My daughter has a 2 year old Volt. She can stick the battery charger in ok, but for the second time the fuel for the gasoline she needs after 50 miles of running on electricity) door can't be opened conventionally. (had this happen a year ago, fixed under warranty. Still have a warranty but sick of this, She has to borrow my car while we wait for loaners and rentals to come thru etc. Wont be the first time I had to tell a dealer how to fix something like this. But I dont have a clue YET

Have someone push in the fuel door while someone else presses the release button inside the car, this might release it.

I will give that a try when I see the car again. GM is buying the new door for her but the strike has slowed down the delivery of the part. She is staying within the charge limit of the batteries for now. Thanks for the idea.
