Computer light and attention to it.
I have a Honda and the wench goes on really early as I check the % left.
But without splitting hairs I just bring it to the shop very 5 K unless it really needs attention.
I remember the 3 K days and know there are cars that make it to 15 k but I don't trust dealers. I used to do as the manufacturer said but their computer is asking us to come in too much. I know some cars sit while others are highway only. At 5 K I do as the manual says,ex, A 1 or whatever and discuss it with the shop.
We compromise and work is done reasonably at the 5 K interval.

Does anyone here go in as soon as the yellow wrench turns on?

If it's in warranty, absolutely. But I think it all depends on what might be wrong.

If nothing is wrong I go for 5 K.
In warranty I still get oil done at a certified shop I know as that does not void the warranty. If it other than oil , I go to the dealer.

But if the wrench lights up that means something is in need of maintenance or immediate repair, Depends on the car. If I'm correct I think the wrench is not an immediate problem, but more of a warning or heads up if you will. If immediate maintenance is needed the check engine light usually will ight up and performance will be limited.

I agree to a degree.. If just the yellow wrench lights up and it is for maintenance, wait the 5 k interval. But if another sensor does that's worth checking out.
I got mine new and after 1500 miles the oil light came on.. Crazy.
You can get a troubleshooting gauge for $10. It is ez to read.

I don't know how to tell what is going on if the wrench lights up and you don't have a gauge
Fixd is easy to use..
