Tire question

Hello,

Just getting some insight on this as I just noticed yesterday. My PT cruiser front tire was getting a few pounds low on air so I filled it and noticed the following. The tread seems okay about 4/32". There are 3 groves between the treads across the width of the tire. In one of the grooves ( center one) you can see the cords coming through the rubber. The other tire is not like this. I have always seen this near the side wall where the tire is really worn but never in the grove when you still have a good amount of tread left. Is this bad and should I change asap. Thx

If you have exposed cords you need to replace the tire! Sounds like an odd scenario for the cord to be exposed? how old are the tires? possible warranty/recall?

Anytime you can see the cords I would definitely change the tire asap. You could end up loosing a chunk of tread or worse have a total blow out.

Without a picture, the only thing I could picture in my mind is the casing split and is letting the cord show. Either dry rot, cut, defect, etc.
