Have a 2017 Honda Accord, While I'm not totally Hindered by the Fobs Incomplete Functionality, My question is the Cost to Repair what is broken ?? Yes I do have a lever by the Drivers Door Rocker Panel that releases the Gas Filler Door & Trunk Lid.. But Using the Key Fob to Open the Trunk is a No Go, as well as Pressing the Trunk Button (Fob in hand of course) located under the Trunk Lip to the right of the License Plate.. Car is Push Button Start , Locking / Unlocking Car Doors , And Remote Start feature , last 3 features all work just fine as they should.. Thoughts & Opinions appreciated, Cheers Thanks
I am not sure but on other cars the doors must be unlocked for the gas cap and trunk functions to be active. Not sure if that is your problem or not but you could try that. As far as having the fob repaired you would need an electronic repair place do that. Where the nearest to you might be I have no idea. Also as many repair shops I would assume there would be a waiting period unless you pay for same day repair if they offer it.
Maybe call a dealer and ask them about the problem. Maybe they could recommend a repair place near you.
I have to disagree about the doors having to be unlocked. None of my cars had to be unlocked.
Not that I know what the problem is, but do you have another FOB (you should have two) to see if the problem is with the FOB or something else?
Many cars... and your Honda should.... have a switch in the glove compartment area to disable remote trunk opening. This feature is to allow you a secure trunk when the car is being valet parked as the glove box can be locked securing the remote trunk operation switch.
This should be covered in the owners manual in the smart entry system section.
If the switch is on.... there are further diagnostic steps that will require a meter or test light
Some locksmiths offer a key fob repair service, but I have had better luck with the dealership doing the repairs. More expensive. but they Gotcha with the sophisticated electronics required today. One of the remotes on my 2012 Ram won't start remotely with one of the Fobs. I use the other for that.
Pjmax.. 2017 Honda Accord .... The separate On / Off switch located in the Glove Box that controls power to the Trunk is (On).. Both Fobs I hear a Clicking Noise when I press Button on Fobs , but no lock release.. Absolutely no response from Button located under Trunk lip, right side..
I would use a meter to check for switched power to the lock module.
I was looking for the wiring color code and came across this helpful video... Honda trunk release video
I have a 2007 Ford Explorer which has a coolant leak somewhere. I had thought I located it but apparently not as it is still leaking coolant.
Someone had mentioned to me way back that there is a dye kit that helps locate coolant leaks. I am sure those of you that are familiar with car way more than I am will know what I am talking about.
I did some quick searches on Google and Amazon so I can purchase a kit that a DIYer like myself can use to help locate this stupid leak that is not noticeable to my naked eyes.
Am I correct in thinking that this is a kit that someone like me can use (not a professional car techician)?
I found a kit online that seems to be what I need but not sure. Here is the link I found (I believe this kit is for far more than I will ever need; fluids other than coolant) ---> Multi-Colored Fluid Dye UV Leak Detection Kit (tracerproducts.com)
I would totally prefer to buy what I need on Amazon (which will be much cheaper than buying from a local store). I found this link for coolant leak dye on Amazon here ---> Amazon.com: Genuine GM Fluid 12378563 Fluorescent Coolant System Tracer Dye - 1 oz. : Automotive
My questions are is this the proper leak dye and I think I need a special UV flashlight to go with it. What type of light do I need? Can someone advise me on this please and give me a link to the proper light to be used with this and other advice on this issue overall.
Thanks!!!!
