no spark

I have an 87 jeep cherokee laredo 6 cyl. 4-wheel drive-4 door. Recently it has been running and dying on it's own. conclusion has been that it's not getting any spark to the ignition control module. Any ideas where to start looking????

check Joe-F's posts on the basics.Basically you need to catch it while it's doing it and see if your losing fuel, fire, etc.Keep us posted and we'll see if we can help>>.

Jeep is losing spark at ignition coil. That has been determined. Just not sure where before that point that the short is happening.

If you arent getting any fire at the coil then its very likely the crank sensor or its wiring is the problem .

I agree. Most parts stores can test it before you replace it and tell you if it is bad or not before sinking the money into a new one.
