89 Ford Van 6 cylFI wont start

Im trying to start my sisters 89 ford conversion van, she ran it out of gas and now I can't keep it running. It will Start with ether shot into the air filter but will not continue after it runs out. It has the straight fuel injected 6cyl. it has 180000 miles and was running perfect before she ran out of gas. It has dual tanks and I can hear the fuel pumps humming when the key is turned. Any ideas would be appreciated.

If stoking it with fuel keeps it running, you have a fuel problem.

Running it out of gas likely wiped out the pump. Check the fuel pressure with a gauge and see what you have.

Running a car with fuel injection out of fuel or even low is bad business. It starves the fuel pump for cooling and lubrication.
