Hey Joe

I've been getting some "pinging" - not a real sharp loud ping, but kind of a garbled "marbles rolling around" sound while going up hill and accelerating. Any ideas?

WHAT OCTANE OF FUEL ARE YOU USING? COULD BE PREIGNITION OR SPARK KNOCK. POSSIBILITY OF IGNITION TIMING TOO HIGH, CARBON BUILD UP ON PISTONS, LEAN FUEL MIXTURE, OR EGR SYSTEM NOT WORKING PROPERLY.

most common cause of spark knock in later model computer controlled engines is the "knock" sensor, located in front of and slightly above the starter on your car.....if the wires are in place to it, sometimes they get hit by flying road debris, then replacing the sensor itself will probably fix the problem......the data from this sensor tells your computer to retard timing when accelerating or under heavy load, much the same as the "vacuum advance" units did on pre-computer cars......I'm sure Joe will agree, this is a logical place to start looking......

Fuel Pressure..............

Hey Joe/Everyone

Would you happen to know what the fuel pressure is on this model leading into the TBI unit? I would like to install a clear fuel filter, and cannot do so if the psi is greater than 10. I have a model 220 TBI unit on this 88 Camaro, 305.

Thanks alot!!

fuel pressure should be between 9 and 13 lbs factory specs...a little much for this filter I suspect...

Check the links in my signature file for service manual information.

No need for another filter. Change the factory one regularly..no problems.

Inline filters that are clear aftermarket serve zero benefit and look major league hokey on a modern car

Stereo speakers

Hey Everyone,
I'm looking to put new speakers in. Besides the 4x6 ones in the front on the dash, what other options to I have? Also, what is a good brand for the price?
