clicks when turning sharp right

My friend has a '99 volkswagon gulf with 37K miles on it. He recently replaced the front axle. I'm not sure why, but I remember him saying something about potholes... (that's one big pothole i guess). Anyway, he hears a loud clicking noise when he turns sharp right, apparently at any low speed. Any ideas on what to look for here? thanks

I would suspect the CV (constant velocity) joints on the front axles....if it's one he had replaced, he should return it and make the shop fix it correctly......

Should be under warranty...1999 car, even with 37k on it.

Mooser is right about the axle and joints.

Yeah that should be under warranty... I'll ask him. If not, I'll check your suggestions, thanks
