heater fan

1985 volkswagen Jetta . Was working on heater fan. Had taken it out because was making noise like bearings were worn out but it was just rubbing the sides. While reinstalling it, it shot a fuse in the fuse box. I replaced it but theblower only works on low and medium speed now, not high. Does this fan have a high speed fuse separate from the regular fuse?
This is a regular jetta, auto, 1.8 f.i. with 200,000 miles.

Might be a bad blower resistor which controls the fan speeds. Not sure where it is on the Jetta. Most cars have it behind the glove box or on the firewall.

A quick call to a VW dealer should net its location in a jiffy.
