Best Minivan?
Well I'm finally going to get rid of my old 92 Ranger. I need a minivan, I'm looking in the paper at Dodge Caravans, like 2001, or 2002. 3.3 liter. Any comments?

Yuck.
Chrysler minivans are great on features, price, etc, but lackluster on quality. I'd stay away. Around here in NYC, they get rough and turn to dust after a few years of usage.
I like the Chevy Astro/GMC Safari because they are old time and rear wheel drive. Simple and efficient, but crude for some folks.
I assume you need to haul things/kids/dogs, etc.
My sister just bought a 2002 Tahoe. Really nice truck. First thing I did was pop the hood and look at the engine. Precursory look shows most things to be a virtual breeze to replace .

I understand your thinking on the rear wheel drive but I THINK I would like the front wheel drive because of its abilities in the snow. My use for the van will be some family hauling but mostly for my part time appliance repair business. I need a double duty vehicle. What are the common problems with them?

Oil burning, head gasket woes, trim falling off, general cheapness .
I also find that they are not well screwed together on the whole.
Ford minivans offer a lot of features, but I don't like the mechanics of them.
Front wheel drive usually makes them easier to handle and ride less like trucks .
Depending on what you haul, the rear drive truck will be heavier duty, support the load better and serve the dual purpose.
The Chrysler and Ford vans are unibody and more carlike.
The GM truck is more like a truck and crude, but it really takes a beating in my belief. I'm not even sure they still make the Astro.
The MIS guy I work with has a 89 Astro van and says it is great to haul all his band equipment to gigs and whatnot.
You might also check Consumer Reports and other sources of owner surveys to see. I believe Chrysler has the FEATURE aspect of the vans the best, but has a long way to go on quality/commercial durability.
Cheese of this forum was a Chrysler tech and is probably disagreeing with me .
