Replacing a ball joint - Ford F150

I need to replace the right ball joint on my F-150 very soon. When I first bought the truck 35,000 miles ago, the left one needed replacing.

I lnow it's a major pain in the butt to do. Anybody have any suggestions to make this job a little easier?

I already have the part, and need to do this asap (the steering is getting pretty loose).

See the link in my signature file for some service manual information that might help.

I know Autozone among others rents a ball joint press. If the Fords are like the GMs and are pressed in, this will make life easier.

You don't mention if it's upper or lower. On a GM, they are both a little bit of a PITA. Air tools make the upper a breeze. You just whiz off the rivets with the air cut off tool. The new one bolts in.

Bottoms press in on the GM's. I think Ford is similar.
