oxygen sensor check

I was reading on the procedure for checking the oxygen sensors in my '96 corsica. The instructions lost me when they said to add propane to the system to simulate a rich air/fuel mixture in order to determine if the sensor was capable of producing the proper voltage to send to the ecm.

Where and how is the propane introduced to accomplish this?

Thanks,
Gerald

Because that is the proper way to test it .

If you suspect the O2 sensor is bad, or the car has upwards of 50k on it, pitch it (there are likely two on this car). They are cheap enough.

An O2 sensor is a maintenance, not replacement item.
