1993 Ford Ranger

I have a problem with my Ranger. It has the 4.0 v6 engine, automatic. It is four wheel drive. 119.000 miles.I purchased the truck a year ago and do not know all its history. It has never given me any trouble except this puzzling problem. When the engine is cold the truck is very sluggish, acting as if i were pulling a loaded trailer. After 5 to10 miles of driving and parking it for a while it all a a sudden acts like it is supposed to .I had a1990 ranger with the same engine, so i had something to compare this truck to. John

Too many possibilities for that vague of a description....

Check my post "The Basics" for some ideas.

1) Full tuneup right off the bat...especially if you don't know its history.
2) Coolant, O2 sensor and MAP should be changed as a matter of course....they will improve your fuel mileage. Air temp sensor is another point of woe on many Fords.

3) Is the check engine light on?
