Easy ? on brakes
I have a 1997 Jeta Trek.
The problem im having is the front left (driverside) brake is locked up. I was wondering if I take off the bake pad maybe that will un-stick it or do i have a bigger problem other then a sticky brake. I did check the brake fuild and it was within the max-min level. Second part to my question is how do i take off the brake? Is this something I can do before taking it to the repair shop?

Does it have ABS or not? It maybe that your brake hoses are bad from inside & acting as a one way check valve. If you have ABS I would suggest to take it to a professional. If you want to tackle this job you will need a repair manual for this vehicle. Plus after you resolved the problem I would suggest to replace the fluid as a part of preventive maintenance. Dont drive the car in this condition you should rectify this ASAP. As your life depends on the brake. Use only quality parts. There are other people may give you more insight in your problem, One of the great guy is Joe F. He can give you great advice. Good luck on the repairs. Keep me posted.
