1998 Dodge Stratus...

I have a 98 Dodge Stratus, it seems that whenever it is cold, I can put it in reverse and back out of the driveway, then when i put it in drive it acts like its in netrual, if i rev the engine up it will pop into drive and go, but I dont think thats such a good thing to do. Could this be a transmission problem or?? It never does it when its warm.

Ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Linkage problem or internal failure problem. Make sure the fluid is clean and full. Change it if it has not been changed in a while.

Thanks for getting back so quick..

Do you happen to know how much it would cost to repair? Just a ballpark.

1000 bucks or more if it needs a rebuilt tranny.

Check www.alldata.com for known bulletins that match the problem. Depending on the mileage and condition, the dealer might eat part of the repair even after the warranty.
