Hazard lights

I recently started having a problem with my 1988 S-10 pickup. When I am driving with my hazard lights on, the lights quit blinking when I depress the brake pedal. When I release the brakes, they start flashing again. I have not checked to see if this is only the dashboard indicators or the external lights as well. This does not happen with the turn signals. Could this be the battery/ alternator dying, or the flasher?

Totally normal condition on all GM cars where the turn signal bulb is the same bulb as the brake/tail light.

No action required.

(All my GM cars do the same thing...it's a neat check inside the car to see if the stoplights work )
