Question Oil Pressure & Noise

Please need some info. My 91 Ranger, when cold, first start up; It takes about 3-5 minutes for the oil pressure to go to normal. During this process it makes a terrible grinding, tapping noise which stops once the oil pressure goes to normal. Can anyone give me some advice to what is the cause? Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sounds like clogged oil passages/bad oil pressure.

Mileage and how often has the oil been changed?

Thanks

Thank you for your time, Joe. Oil is usually changed every 3,000 but was using heavy oil due to leakage. This may have caused the problem. Thanks again.

Do an oil pressure check with a gauge and let's see what we have there.
