ABS light

ABS light
I have a '94 Ford Explorer FWD with 150,000 +/- miles on it. A couple of weeks ago, the ABS light started coming on intermintally. In the morning when I start, after start up routine, all lights would be off as normal. However after stopping and then re-starting within a couple hours, the ABS light would stay on. This does not happen ALL the time but probably 2/3. It always goes off if it has been parked for several hours (i.e. after I leave home from work).
The other day, I needed to apply my brakes rather hard to avoid a lane drifter. My ABS light was on, however they appeared to have responded normally. By that I mean the "pulsating" appeared "even and rythmic".
Local mechanic has told me that they did not work on ABS diagnosing, and referred to dealer.
Any ideas on what may be wrong, or maybe some kind of temperature control in system

Any independent shop with a scanner can handle the repair. The shop you called must work on 32 Fords or something. Geez .
ABS is not something to fool around with. Probably a bad wheel sensor. Hit any repair shop that is a good diagnostic shop and they can track down and repair the problem for you.
