97 Chrysler LHS heater core

Has anyone every put heater core in 97 chrysler LHS. According the hayes service manual must of the dash has to come out (thats not a problem) but that the A\C has to be discharged. I know that the heater core and A\C evaporator are in same housing, just was wondering if you could get to the screw\bolts that hold the housing together while it still on the firewall, I know this would be lot harder to do, but if I can avoid having the A\C discharge I would be happier about doing this. Anyone have suggestion?

I suggest you don't trust the Haynes manual on this extensive of a repair...get the factory book or an Alldata.com subscription to guide you.

Likely the A/C does have to be discharged to move a hose out of the way. The LH cars are tightly packed.
