Fuel gauge floating all over the place
#1

I have the following vehicle:
1997 Chevrolet Express 3500
5.7 Litre V-8
4 speed automatic transmission
15 passenger
86K
standard 31 gallon tank
About a month ago, when it started getting close to empty, the fuel gauge would float all the way up to 3/4 tank, then bank down and everywhere in between. Now, when I hit 1/4 tank, it started doing it again. If I didn't have a trip odometer, and a decent knowledge of fuel ecomonmy, I'd be out of gas somewhere. Any ideas?
Thank you very much!

Movement of the sender is quite normal when turning, moving and when the level is low. The sender is moving.
Check www.alldata.com for any known bulletins that match the problem.
If the fuel gauge is mostly steady when you are not moving, the sender is likely working fine.
