1996 vw jetta glx thermostat

All of a sudden my car began running very hot. We couldn't keep water in the car and blew the heater core.

We repaired the heater core. Now the car now maintains its coolant level, but gets hot immediately. My thought was to change the thermostat. But I can't find it. I've removed all the hoses and can't seem to locate it.

Please help.

Yes they do, but don't always have what you need (the free service information that is...lol).

Let us know what the repair turns out to be.
