That depends on if your going totally stock or rad street machine.
What I'm asking is what do you want the car for?
Also for determining the right stall speed convertor you'll need to take your engine and rear into consideration.(cam lift and duration is good to know for this application. And if you want a a shift kit. What shift points are you looking for?
The best advice would be tell the trans shop what your looking for and he can build a trans for your specs.

I agree with Bill. What are you trying to do?

Ah, old Ponchos. They rule .

I have three of them:

1980 Carousel Red Turbo 301 T/A, 26k original. My parent's car from new.

1979 10th Anniversary 400 4 speed, T/A, 57k original. I bought it after I finished graduate school (a gift to myself) . Hoot to drive. I will restore it to original shape (in good shape now).

1980 Trans Am, T-top with a 400 Pontiac from a 1977 LeMans. Runs like a caged gorilla. Lol. Loud and viscious. Might chop it up for parts. Got it for free from someone that bailed out of it. Runs and drives

Old Indians rule
