1992 Ford Escort Heater

Ok, so I've got a 1992, Ford Escort. 1.9 ltr engine, automatic. Recently I've run into a bit of a problem. The heater doesn't seem to be working. I turn the heat right up and let it run for a couple of minutes, and still nothing. Now I thought it might be the thermostat. If I am right, is it very hard to change? (I'm not very automotive mechanically inclined.) If not, what else could the problem be? Any help would be great. Thanks!

Get a repair manual or check the links in my signature file for some ideas.....

Yes the thermostat is the likely candidate. Also make sure your cooling system is full. Lack of coolant will cause a no-heat condition.

Feel the heater hoses going to the firewall. Are they both hot when the car is fully warmed up? If they are, the problem is with the vent door inside the car not the cooling system.
