Ford Taurus stall no restart

A co-worker of mine has a 93 Taurus with a 3.8 litre.
A few days ago the check engine light came on but ran fine .
Today he drove it for awhile and it stalled and no restart.
Let it set for a few hours and it restarts.
Checked under hood again and seen the the pressure regulater sensor next to egr valve was burned up bad.
Replaced and still no restart.
Fuel rail does have pressure.
Is there a common fault on these such as a bad coil pack or pick up module as GM has had in the past?
Havent checked for spark yet but the engine cranks too fast to think its a fuel problem.
Thanks for any info.
