gear indicator

97 Explorer Eddie Bauer. The gear shift indicator is slightly off. When you shift it, the needle doesn't point smack in the middle of the gear. It points to the right of the gear you're in. For example, if I shift the car into neutral, the gear indicator looks as if it is almost pointed towards drive. Its not a huge problem, but I'd like to know how to fix it. Is this an easy fix? Thanx in advance.

Depends. It's normal for some vehicles. Not always on the mark.

See what the service manual tells you. Might be more of a gazorch that what it's worth to fix.
