Question securing? antenna beyond mount

Does anyone know how to secure an antenna to your car beyond the base mount? My problem...my antenna whips furiously at hight speeds and at times seems like it will hit the car.

Thanks,
Blanca

Type of car? Perhaps the wrong antenna.

You can get the short rubber "duckies" at any parts store. They will not hit the car and are more rigid.

Put a tennis ball on the end. Just kidding.

Is it an adjustable antenna? If so the antenna doesn't have to be all the way out to work.

re: securing antenna beyond mount

I have a Jeep Wrangler, I also made sure that the antenna is securely mounted. If there are alternative antennas for a jeep wrangler, I sure would like to know -- i really haven't look into that possiblity.

I have a large antenna on my 1979 Trans Am, no hitting problems .

Go to any parts store and peruse what antennas they have. Or go to Crutchfield.com or Jcwhitney.com

Are you sure it's just not loose? How fast are you driving to be whipping the antenna like that? Lol.

I had a similar problem on a service vehicle with a spring loaded antenna.
I took some black electricians tape and wrapped it neatly around the spring to make it stiffer.
Not pretty but it did the job.

Talking

Beats the coat hanger I have seen on other service trucks around here. Lol.
