It sounds like it may be time to remove and take to the tranny shop.Removing it yourself may save some money.
But if you don't know what your doing Transmissions are not to be taken lightly.

Whoa Nelley....
2001 vehicle. GM's problem. Covered by the new car warranty, even if you are over the mileage. No truck that's a year old should have transmission issues.
Back to the dealer and let them replace the needed parts for free!
