HOW DO I GET THE AXLE SHAFT AND BALL JOINTS OUT OF AN 86 OLDS FIRENZA?

Get a repair manual for your application. Check my signature file below for starters. Please kill the caps as well, no need to shout.

The ball joints are likely riveted to the control arm and must be removed first.

That being said, the axle pulls right out from the transmisison with minimal force in most cases.

the axle does not just pull out that easlily. you must pry it out from the inner cv-joint.

The axle as a UNIT should come right out of the transmission with not much effort.

It is not worth rebuilding axles. Rebuilt axles are available quite reasonably through any parts store. This is the most cost effective way go.

there is a ring type clip that holds the inner cv-joint in the transaxle that holds it in. if you pull the axle out from any other part of it it could pull the axle assembly apart.
