Cool Ford escort steering Help!!

hello, I've got a '96 ford escort. 136k miles. When I steer around corners, the "rack " moves and makes driving scarey. The black rubber inserts that hold the bar from sliding, are both half out of their brackets and are loose.
My question- is this something I can fix? Is it just a matter of replacing those black inserts? Where on the internet can I get page by page instructions? I can navigate when I have a chiltons book in my hand, but I don't own one with this car.
Is there an online site where I can pull up this info? Can someone send step-by-step instructions?
thanks,
Bob

Do you mean the steering rack under the car? Or inside at the column?

You need to be more descriptive as to the problem and what you mean by "rack".

I suggest you get a service manual or Alldata.com subscription for your vehicle. Well worth the money.
