you need to try a good cleaner/ wax like Meguiars #7 and see if that can bring out the shine (sometimes you need to do it twice to get good results) by using a rubbing compound you could really ruin the paint that is left. if you need to use a hard compound you should use a buffing wheel to do a good job, just be careful not to burn the paint. Rubbing alchohol on paint???????never heard of that one hope this helps

Meguiars #7 is neither a cleaner nor a wax and it will not remove oxidized paint effectively.

Meguiars #3 Machine Glaze is the product you need to remove oxidation with a rotary buffer. Follow buffing with #9 Swirl Mark remover. Then hand glaze with #7. Finish with #26 Yellow Wax.

You can visit the Meguiars website for more information.

Polishing compound is available at most parts stores. It's like rubbung compound just milder. Try it out in a small area and see how it does.
