1997 honda civic ex overheating
my car's overheated this same time last year but i thought i had fixed it but i guess i didn't. I live in houston, tx so it's pretty hot down here. I have changed many parts and it actually ran very well for like 6 months or so. But now it's beginning to get really hot in houston and i was wondering if that may had something to do with it. it doesn't overheat when its idle. It only overheats after i drive on the freeway for a while and when i come to a stop, it begins to get hot. Items changed so far are: Thermostat, thermo sensor, radiator, waterpump. I brought it back to my "parents" mechanic, bad idea, but i was really getting frustrated so i needed another opinion. He checked it out and found out the radiator was half working so he changed it AGAIN. This worked for about a week and now its beginning to heat up again. I'm thinking it's the head gasket but i don't see any leaks whatsoever around the block. and my parent's mechanic says that if the head gasket was bad, the engine wouldn't last more than two days. So i'm pretty puzzled about this and since it's my only means of transportation, i want to get it fixed as soon as possible. please help!!!
