Head gasket?

I have a 91 Chevy Cavalear 4cyl 133,000 miles on it. I have a very visible sight of antifreeze corrosion right below the head, I checked the oil and it is clean, so I dont think anything is cracked.Since the oil is clean should I assume the head and block are ok and just a bad gasket, or when I take the head off should it go into the shop? If the head goes into the shop what does that run for them to check it out?

No, if the head comes off to do the gasket, the head should be sent to a machine shop to check for burned valves and cracks. You can't tell by looking where the issue is. Requires special equipment to do so.

Don't cheap out, it could cost you double labor.
