Drum Brakes

Have an '87 jeep Wrangler that failed inspection in NJ... surprize, surprize... but it wasn't for emmissions... back rear drum brake needs to be tightened. I know to pull the rubber plugs from the back side of the wheel but which way to spin the tightening wheel... up or down to tighten. I'm trying to tighten it without taking the wheel off. From the diagram given to me @ the inspection station looks like it doesn't need much... maybe 2-3 clicks
Any thoughts anyone??
thanks

Pitch the brake hardware and shoes for new stuff. The hardware is likely toast at this his point if it won't self adjust. Should be changed at every brake job. Cheap enough.

As for adjustment procedures, check the links below.

BTW: My sister probably lives a half hour from you in Long Valley, NJ. I know the dang inspection station is like a half hour from home. Lol!
