oil sending unit

My son has a 1990 Honda Prelude with a 2.1 motor. He tried to put in a new oil sending unit and stripped the threads in the block. Do you know of a way to fix this problem. Do you know if they make something like a self tapping oil sending unit? Is there another spot that we might be able to put the sending unit?
I forgot to tell you that the engine block is aluminum.

Try hitting a parts store and getting a sleeve or something that will save the threads. You might have to tap the threads out in the block to be able to screw in a new sending unit.

How did he strip it?
