C-6 transmission

Have a 1985 Ford Bronco. The transmission is a C-6 (so I have been told) Will not shift into high gear. If I tromp on it and it kicks into passing gear then it shifts. Just bought vehicle missing vacuum hoses on various items. Could it be a vacuum problem. Engine idles and runs fine.

Yes, your problem is most likely vacuum related.

You should have vacuum line running from the transmission modulator to a manifold vacuum source. If it's disconnected, the trans will shift late & harsh on the 1-2 shift & will shift either VERY late or not at all on the 2-3 shift.

Make sure you correct all the other vacuum leaks too, as the shift timing & harshness will be effected by a vacuum leak in other areas. Use the emissions decal under the hood to correctly route new vacuum hoses.
