brown discoloration on block

Folks:
96 Corolla, 1.8 L

I have noticed brown discoloration on block, appears to stem from uper rad. hose. Reverse flushed raidiator and coolant was, of course, same color, now it's a healthy green again. Have been adding more coolant than normal, about 2 qts a month. Do I have a leaking head gasket? Is it time for a pressure check?
Thanks,
Firstshift

You may have had a leaking hose or a thermostat.

A pressure check wouldn't hurt. How long did you wait to flush the coolant?

Too long. Flush your coolant every year on the dot. Cheap, effective and prevents trouble.
