I have a 1983 ford ranger,w/a automatic C-3 trans.V-6 engine
can i put a C-4 in w/out any problems ?
Have been told it will fit(C-4)as long as it's bolted to a V-6 engine
That year did come w/a C-3 trans. or a C-5.
would i be able to install a C-5 auto w/ less problems than a C-4 or what would be my easiest way out ?

Likely will fit, but surely not worth the headache on this old shoe. Driveshaft may have to be changed as well as the linkage and other parts.
A Hollander interchange manual available at the junkyard might state that type of information.

i have trans id charts on my site, c4 in place of c3 why? in an older vehicle, cost would out weigh the benifits, c5's have high failure rates, lu tc problems, what about a4ld (od) instead, the a4ld is the c3 overdrive unit, but still the cost involved, and it would have to be an early a4ld, you would probably loose lu in the a4ld. not wise.
