hard starting, takes 2-3 attempts before starting. recent tune up and new fuel filter. hot or cold engine, doesn't matter. v8 with 55k. it does start but am afraid wife will burn up starter before long!!

Start by checking my post "The Basics" below.
I would start with checking the fuel pressure with a gauge. See how that compares to the specs in the service manual. Check www.autolibrary.org for the specs.

I agree with Joe,check your fuel pressure but leave the gauge on for 2 hours and see if it drops,if it does you likely have a bad check valve in your fuel pump.By the way I dont mean 3-4 psi I mean a major drop.
