Brake Lights

We have a 1983 Ford Club Wagon, Strait V6, Automatic, 300 cubic engine. The problem is that we cannot get the rear brake lights to go out and the lights do not get brighter when braking. We have tried removing fuses and reading through the Chiltons were unable to locate a description of the problem for trouble shooting.
We are novices with electrical problems...any ideas?

a good place to start

would be replacing your brake light switch. Mounted up against your brake pedal arm. Other than that, you're into wiring and others here are more suited to give advice in that area.

The brake light switch is likely the problem. A couple of bucks at any parts store and easy to change.
