Low oil pressure

A 1987 Chev S-10 pickup has very low oil pressure.
This vehicle has 87,000 miles and the oil has been changed every 3000 miles or less since new. The oil sending unit has been changed with no improvement. Can something else be causing the problem? What is the next course of action? Thanks; Darwin

What is telling you you have low oil pressure? The dash gauge? If so, stop there.

Get a hand held oil pressure gauge from the parts store. Check the oil pressure with that. Compare it to the spec in the service manual. Now tell us how the pressure compares.

A common cause of low oil pressure is a clogged pickup screen inside the oil pan.
