88 jeep overheating
I have a 1988 jeep Cherokee sport mid size with the 4.0 6cyl, 180000 miles. I have put in a new Radiator, thermostat, hoses, and anti freeze and it still overheats just idleing in the drive way. There is no water in the oil or coming out of the exhaust, I need help!

Yes I have looked at the clutch fan and seems to be fine, I have been told that there were two differant water pumps for this motor, one clock wise, one counter is there any truth to that?
I have thought about a cracked head, but I dont have any Pressure in the radiator and the jeep runs to good.

does it have an electric fan also?
does it only overheat at idle or also when the vehicle is moving?
when they started to use the serpentine belt they switched the rotation of the waterpumps in most vehicles.

Yes it also has an electric fan, it will also over heat going down the road, it is the serpentine belt drive, I worked with it last night as it started to overheat i would rev it up and every time i would do this it would drop 10-15 degrees. Im going to pull the water pump today and take a look at that.
